Furosemide
Medical Practitioners from all specialties, especially cardiologists, use injectable furosemide (Lasix), a powerful diuretic, in situations that require rapid or massive mobilization of fluid. Injectable Furosemide is used IM or IV in the treatment of pulmonary edema; hepatic edema; cardiac edema; or renal edema; and in hypertension that cannot be controlled with other diuretics. This most frequently prescribed loop diuretic blocks reabsorption of sodium and chloride and subsequently causes profound diuresis.
