Bupivacaine HCl Injection, USP
Long-lasting Effectiveness
Orthopedics, Rheumatologists, and Interventional Pain Physicians use this most popular local and regional anesthetic in their practices to aid in managing pain. Marcaine's analgesic action prevents depolarization of the nerve cells which prevents initiation of a pain signal. Depending on the dose and route of administration, Marcaine's onset of action is between one to seventeen minutes and remains effective for two to nine hours. This is often helpful when injecting long-acting steroid suspensions in interventional pain procedures. Bupivacaine's is also used for epidural, spinal, and sympathetic nerve blocks.
