Tuberculin Tests
Family Practice and Internal Medicine Physicians administer Tuberculin Purified Protein Derivative (Mantoux)-Tubersol® for tuberculin testing in patients requiring a periodic or annual screening for TB or in patients who may be suspect of exposer to the bacteria who may or may not be symptomatic. The test is performed by injecting 0.1 mL of Tubersol® intradermally in the flexor (volar) surface of the forearm. The results are read 48 to 72 hours after administration. Only palpable indurations are considered when interpreting the test.
