Honoring the Heart Behind Seven Bridges Pain Specialists

This month, we’re proud to highlight Dr. Renee Gallo, founder of Seven Bridges Pain Specialists. She’s not only a dedicated physician and practice owner, but also a wife and mother whose commitment to her patients, family, and community stands out in everything she does. We’re grateful for the partnership we’ve built with her and for the care she provides every day.

Dr. Gallo was born in Great Falls, Montana, and spent much of her childhood in South Florida after her family settled there. Raised by hardworking parents who didn’t attend college themselves, she and her sisters were encouraged early on to pursue education and create opportunities for themselves. Her mother also emphasized the importance of family. This value continues to shape both her personal life and her approach to medicine.

As the oldest of six children, including her twin sister, Dr. Gallo naturally took on a caregiving role from a young age. She was always curious and motivated, with a strong interest in science. By age 11, she already knew she wanted to become a physician. This was not because of one defining moment, but from a growing desire to understand how the body works and to help people feel better.

She went on to study nutritional sciences in college before completing medical school, residency, and fellowship training. Along the way, mentors and teachers played an important role in encouraging her and helping her see what was possible. Those early influences helped build the confidence and direction that carried her into medicine.

Dr. Gallo initially chose anesthesiology because of her interest in pharmacology and physiology, but over time she realized she wanted more long-term connection with her patients. That led her to pursue a fellowship in pain medicine, where she found the right balance of hands-on treatment, science, and continuity of care.

Her training years were demanding, often working 60 to 70 hours a week across operating rooms, ICUs, and specialized units, but they helped shape her clinical skills, resilience, and perspective. When she transitioned into private practice, she faced a new set of challenges, learning how to navigate the complexities of patient care beyond textbooks and training.

What really sets Dr. Gallo apart is how she approaches her patients. While she specializes in pain medicine, she pays attention to the whole person, not just the condition being treated. Many of her patients, especially older adults, are managing multiple health concerns. She makes a point to look at the bigger picture and help guide them toward the care they need, even beyond her specialty.

That same sense of care carries into her family life. She’s married to her husband, Andy, who is both a nurse practitioner and her business partner. Together, they’ve built a practice and a life centered around service. They’re raising a family of boys, and she often reflects on how every patient she treats is deeply important to someone else. That perspective helps keep her grounded and compassionate.

After completing her training and working with another group, Dr. Gallo made the decision to open her own practice in Jacksonville, Florida. She wanted to create a place where patients could receive excellent care without long wait times, and where service and accessibility were just as important as clinical outcomes.

Like many physician-owners, stepping into the business side of medicine came with a steep learning curve. From managing operations to overseeing renovations and navigating regulations, she had to quickly adapt. Through it all, her focus remained the same. Prioritize patient care, and everything else will follow.

Today, Seven Bridges Pain Specialists treats patients with both acute and chronic pain, using a combination of interventional procedures and medical management. Much of her work focuses on patients over 65. These are people who have spent their lives working and caring for others, and who now deserve thoughtful, attentive care themselves.

She’s also built a team that reflects her values. The staff is collaborative, cross-trained, and focused on making the patient experience as smooth and personal as possible. At the core of it all is a simple philosophy. Treat every patient the way you would want to be treated, or how you would want your own family to be treated. That mindset shows up in every part of her practice.

When asked what she’s most proud of, Dr. Gallo points to both her medical career and her role as a mother. She’s built a meaningful professional life while raising a family, and she’s quick to recognize the team around her that makes it all possible.

Looking ahead, she hopes her practice will continue long into the future, eventually being passed on so its mission can carry forward. More than anything, she wants it to remain a place where all patients feel welcome and well cared for.
